  • The hotel has a history, the style of the Republic of China, the location is OK, and the location of the broken bridge is very good. Only when I checked in, I was decorating, the downstairs restaurant was closed, and there was the roar of machines at night, which affected my sleep. I don't know whether it's radar or some air freshener in the room. It tastes pungent and uncomfortable. And after drinking the free mineral water in the room, he began to have diarrhea. The quality of the service staff really needs to be improved. A male receptionist at the front desk likes to answer. What to ask is also one question, three don't know, or give wrong information. A little disappointed. The next day, I changed it decisively.Elegant Standard Queen Room

  • This hotel is a very historic hotel. When I went there, only one building was in use, and the others were in decoration, which was a little messy. The hotel is close to the West Lake, with distinctive architecture and the style of the Republic of China. We live in a suite. When we open the window, we see the corridor next door. There is no scenery. Our hotel doesn't include breakfast. Going out for breakfast will take a while. Shopping and dining are very inconvenient.Elegant Standard Queen Room

  • The location is very good, opposite the West Lake and the crane Pavilion; There is a famous Qiushui villa in the hotel, which I really want to visit; It should be the oldest hotel in Hangzhou; The actual service is average, the equipment is average, and the drawing has a false name; Breakfast is also average; Several meals were eaten in the hotel, generally average, and the service was slow. Of course, you can see the old houses of the Republic of China, which is the only advantage.Standard Room

  • naivete; When you visit the lake in summer, people want to swim in the blue waves; The red leaves of autumn mountains remind people of the poem 'frost leaves are red than flowers in February'. Snow covered lakes and mountains, pines and cliffs are another poem and painting written by Wang Wei. The location is too good. The environment is really good. After all, it's a century old store. The waiter at the door is very kind and will take a group photo with you. The front building is newly renovated, and the back one is a little oldStandard Room

Travelogue

  • The perfect service of a century old shop by West Lake, with every detail hiding the warmth of Jiangnan style

I chose Hangzhou The New Hotel for my stay in Hangzhou this time. As a century old famous hotel located in the core area of West Lake, I originally came here only for the lake scenery and historical heritage. After three days of staying, I realized that the most unforgettable thing was not the West Lake scenery outside the window, but the warm and thoughtful service hidden in the details. There were no overly enthusiastic disturbances, but I could always provide a timely response when you needed it.
I arrived at the hotel late at night in late autumn. As soon as I walked to the door from the wutong tree on Beishan Street, dragging my suitcase, the doorman took the initiative to take my luggage. Afraid of the strong wind at the lake at night, he handed me a cup of warm Hangzhou white chrysanthemum tea and went all the way to the elevator. He also kindly reminded me that the lake would cool at night. If you want to go out for a walk, you can always borrow a thick shawl from the front desk. When I checked in, the front desk learned that it was my first time to stay. It not only handed me a souvenir manual printed with the hotel's 100 year history, but also took the initiative to help me upgrade the lakeside room in the high area. Afraid of being hungry at night, I specially added a small dish of soft and glutinous Dingsheng cake to my welcome fruit tray, saying that it was an old Dim sum in Hangzhou, which was just right for the stomach.
After checking in, I found that the silk shirt I was going to wear the next day had been accidentally wrinkled by my luggage. With a try it out attitude, I called the front desk. Unexpectedly, 15 minutes later, the staff brought professional silk ironing equipment to the door and carefully helped me iron the entire shirt flat and smooth. They even used the hotel's customized dust-proof bag to help me pack it, reminding me that if I need help delivering it downstairs before leaving the next day, I can always use the internal line. In late autumn night in Hangzhou, the lake was very humid. I opened the window to see the night scene for a while before going to bed. I got up in the middle of the night and had a slight cold. I called the front desk to ask if there was warm water and ginger tea. Within a few minutes, the staff not only brought the boiled brown sugar ginger tea, but also brought a small bowl of clear Congee on the forehead. They said that drinking ginger tea on an empty stomach was easy to stimulate the stomach, and it would be more comfortable to pad something. There was no extra greetings throughout the whole process, which was as good as an old friend I had known for a long time.
On the day of check-out, I left in a hurry and left my personal photo album containing old photos of West Lake in my room. It was only after leaving the hotel for more than two hours and on my way to Lingyin Temple that I realized it. When I called back to the hotel, the room attendant had already put away the photo album properly. The front desk not only helped me lock it in the storage cabinet for expensive items, but also offered to arrange for a local flash delivery for me, fearing that I would waste my time on the trip. Even the packaging for the flash delivery was wrapped in a customized gift box from the hotel, fearing that the photos would be damaged on the way.
As an old hotel that has been open by West Lake for over a hundred years, the most rare aspect of Hangzhou The New Hotel's service is that it always carries the gentle and moderate feeling unique to Jiangnan people, without deliberately creating a sense of ceremony, but considering all the subtle needs of guests in advance. The warmth hidden in the century old heritage is the most unforgettable accommodation experience by West Lake. The next time I come to Hangzhou, I will definitely return here.Show more

  • Staying at the century old hotel on Beishan Street, pushing the door will lead you into the old days of West Lake

This time, I specifically chose to stay at Hangzhou The New Hotel in Hangzhou. As a century old historic mansion located in the core C of West Lake, I have seen countless people share its Republican style before. After staying for two nights, I truly felt that the experience here is far more than just facing West Lake.
When checking in, the doorman took the initiative to pick up my luggage and walked along the long corridor with old wooden floors to the front desk. Along the way, there were old photos hanging on the walls, slowly unfolding the story of this restaurant from 1913 to the present. I ordered the lake view room in the high district. The moment I opened the door, I was struck by the picture in front of me: the whole french window were not blocked, the outlines of the isolated mountain and the white embankment were directly spread in front of me, the morning fog was coming up from the lake, and the wutong leaves on the bank were stained with dew, like a newly stunned picture of water in the south of the Yangtze River. The room is in the authentic retro style of the Republic of China, with the warm texture of old furniture paired with L'Occitane's toiletries, balancing the historical sedimentation and modern comfort perfectly. The bedding is fluffy and soft, and at night, you can sleep with the faint sound of the lake breeze, even in your dreams.
The most intoxicating thing is the slow pace in the restaurant. There is no need to deliberately squeeze out the crowds of people on the broken bridge. Walking out of the hotel gate for more than 200 meters is the historical and cultural block of Beishan Street. Walking slowly along the lakeside trail, you can take a few steps to sit on a bench by the West Lake and watch the cruise ship slowly pass by the lake. The evening sunset turns the lake warm golden, and even the wind carries the fragrance of lotus flowers. The terrace on the top floor is a private viewing treasure. Sitting here at night with the lake wind blowing, you can see the night view of the whole West Lake. The lights of Leifeng Tower in the distance are on, and the wutong leaves in Beishan Street are shaking their shadows under the lights, so you don't have to go to the online red card punching point to squeeze positions.
The dining experience also exceeded expectations. The breakfast in 1913 restaurant was full of Hangzhou local characteristics, including the steamed scallions, soft glutinous Dingsheng cakes, and the densely boiled West Lake lotus root Congee. When you sit near the window, you can see the scenery of lakes and mountains when you look up. In the evening, order a Hangzhou cuisine at Guyun French Restaurant. The fresh flavor of West Lake Fish in Vinegar Sauce is completely free of earthy smell. The tea fragrance of Fried Shrimps with Longjing Tea is wrapped in the fresh sweetness of shrimp. Outside the window is the West Lake in the night. Time seems to slow down here.
As a century old foreign-related hotel located by West Lake, Hangzhou The New Hotel does not have fancy internet celebrity facilities, but incorporates the poetry of West Lake and the appropriateness of a century old hotel into every detail. The two days of living here, without rushing to check in at scenic spots or taking photos with crowds of people, leisurely walking along the lake and watching the clouds roll and relax on the terrace, this experience of living in the slow life of West Lake is the most cherished memory of coming to Hangzhou. Next time I come to Hangzhou, I will definitely return here and go on another date with the old days of Beishan Street.Show more
